Vincent van der Voort produced a superb debut performance at The Masters to send reigning and two-time World Champion Gary Anderson crashing out in round one on Saturday.

The Dutch ace, however, was unable to conquer eventual runner-up Dave Chisnall in Sunday’s quarter-finals.

van der Voort put on an excellent display in Milton Keynes to defeat world number two Anderson 10-7, hitting eight 180s in his first appearance in the tournament which features the world’s top 16.

“It was a great win for me against Gary,” said van der Voort, who will now turn his attentions to this weekend’s UK Open qualifiers in Wigan.

“I was disappointed not to be able to follow it up in the next round but Dave played very well and I wasn’t at my top level, which I need to be in a tournament like this.

“It was a good start to the year though and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”
